The AfriAlliance project aims to better prepare Africa for future climate change challenges by having African and European stakeholders work together in the areas of water innovation, research, policy, and capacity development.

A new guidance document has been developed to support the design of well-balanced strategies for Integrated Flood Management. “This guidance document serves as the operational link between the policy and tool papers previously published by the Associated Programme on Flood Management (APFM),” said Johannes Cullman, Director of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Climate and Water Department.

The Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment in collaboration with United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Global Water Partnership, Eastern Africa are facilitating the piloting exercise for the Sustainable Development Goal number 6 monitoring methodology in Uganda.

Following the end of the first phase of WACDEP in 2016, an African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) programme implemented by the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and partners, a number of knowledge products have been developed to help capture the various lessons and experiences drawn from the various WACDEP projects. The products provide a more comprehensive understanding of the programmes innovative approach.

On 12-19 May 2013 the Republic of Armenia hosted 11^th European Youth Parliament for Water on “Water Resource Management”.

GWP offers three types of Knowledge Resources:

A series of 22 country consultations took place from February to May 2013 to address the importance of water to national development.

More than twenty (20) stakeholders in St. Lucia from Ministries of Public Utilities and Finance and other government agencies, the private sector, non-governmental organisations, water and wastewater managers, legal practitioners, among others were trained in the area of Water Financing in a workshop held in St. Lucia on May 28^th and 29^th, 2013 put on by the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) and the National Water and Sewerage Commission (NWSC) of St. Lucia.  

On November 1 and 2, 2016, the 7th Hydropower for Today Forum held in Hangzhou, China. It was hosted by the Ministry of Water Resources of China (MWR) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and organized by the International Centre on Small Hydro Power (ICSHP).

The national meeting to validate and launch the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) in Ghana for ‘no/low’ regrets investments to increase access to water and sustainable development was held on 11^th July, 2013 at Erata Hotel in Accra. The meeting was organised by the Ghana Country Water Partnership (G-CWP) in collaboration with the National Level Learning Alliance Platform (NLLAP) of the Resource Centre Network under the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing.
