On December 6 to 9, 2016, the newly appointed GWP Steering Committee (SC) member proposed by GWP China Region, Mdm. Qiuchi Shi, Deputy Director General, Department of Water Resources Management, the Ministry of Water Resources of China, attended the Steering Committee Meeting in Stockholm.
The water situation in Venezuela remains critical, both in quality and quantity. In a recent national television interview, Yazenia Frontado, Chair of GWP Venezuela and Vice Chair of GWP South America, spoke about GWP Venezuela’s work to revert this situation.
Tajikistan hosted the second regional consultation on Valuing Water – a global process to assist the work of the High Level Panel on Water (HLPW). GWP, together with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW), opened a high-level discussion on how financing water security can accelerate delivery on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event, the first in a series of discussions on ‘financing SDG 6’, took place in Stockholm on 29 August.
Under the Strategic Goal 1 Catalyze Change, the WACDEP Programme of GWP China Region stresses cross-regional cooperation, sector plan optimization, investment on recycling renewable resources, south-south promotion and a good lesson of utilizing the water rights market.
