On 21 November 2025, the GWP Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Regional Council gathered online and introduced the GWP’s new global strategy. The meeting brought together Country Water Partnerships, the Regional Secretariat, and the GWPO Network Officer to discuss the strategy’s implications, regional priorities, and the ongoing transformation of the GWP network.
22 March is World Water Day, an annual UN Observance focusing on the importance of freshwater, and a yearly reminder to reflect on sound water governance. World Water Day 2025 focuses on glacier preservation, emphasising the need for global action to manage meltwater sustainably and reduce emissions, securing vital water resources for the future.
On 26-27 November 2024, Bratislava welcomed youth leaders, water management experts, and key stakeholders for the DANUrely Roundtable: Empowering the Next Generation in Water Management. Hosted at the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMU), this two-day event united participants from across the Danube region to explore innovative solutions for water challenges and foster collaboration between generations.

Jakarta, Indonesia | September 13, 2025 - At Water Indonesia 2025, the Indonesian Water Association (IdWA) and the Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP SEA) gathered experts to discuss how Indonesia can move from water scarcity to sustainable solutions.
The Regional Initiative for Water and Sanitation in the Mono cross-border basin (RIWE-Mono) aims to restore ecosystems, improve the living conditions of people living along the river and promote concerted, sustainable management of natural resources, while strengthening cross-border cooperation between the two countries (Benin and Togo) that share this watercourse.
