The report on the progress on IWRM in the Asia-Pacific region is based on the national consultations held last year to assess the implementation of SDG 6.5.1. Based on the analysis of country responses to the 2020 Data Drive on that indicator, as well as interviews with focal points and an online Learning Exchange, we are pleased to present the "Progress on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the Asia-Pacific Region 2021: Learning exchange on monitoring and implementation towards SDG 6.5.1" .  The report was launched online to coincide with the Stockholm Water Week 2021, during the Asia Focus session: Accelerating inclusive water governance to advance sustainable development, on 25 August 2021. The alternative report is the result of the alternative monitoring done by the civil society and which allows to have a citizens' point of view on the management of the sector, other than the one given by the Decision-Makers.

Through an inclusive multi-stakeholder approach, the AIP WACDEP-G programme aims to actively engage public sector policy and decision makers in its implementation. Targeted capacity building is a core element to ensure active engagement and a sense of ownership by stakeholders.

The concept of gender mainstreaming in water resources management is not new, and while the ambition is clear, we are not advancing at the pace we need. Why is that? How can countries accelerate progress towards gender mainstreaming in water resources management?

The SADC Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus Governance Framework, that was developed by SADC with technical assistance from GWPSA, was approved in a joint meeting held by the Ministers responsible for Energy and Water from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on the 30th October 2020 through video conferencing, hosted by the Republic of Mozambique.

The 2021 European River Symposium is scheduled for 26-27 May. The event will focus on building connections between institutions, organisations and companies with an interest in rivers and whose activities affect the health and quality of river water and ecosystems.

The first user need assessment workshop for piloted Hindon Dashboard was organised by GWP India (India Water Partnership) in collaboration with Tree Craze Foundation, National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) volunteers on 13 July 2021, online.

Since 1973, the International Water Resources Association (IWRA) has held a World Water Congress every three years in various locations around the world. The 2021 edition is held from 29 November to 3 December in Daegu, Republic of Korea.
