The High-Level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP) – Global Water Partnership (GWP) PAN ASIA Consultation Meeting: Draft Principles on Addressing Water-Related Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) During Covid-19 Pandemic

August 4 -- The High-Level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP) was established to assist the international community, governments, and stakeholders in mobilizing political will and resources. HELP is committed to addressing water-related disaster risk reduction including the present challenge with the COVID-19 pandemic circumstances in hand. The consultation meeting was held to discuss and gain insights on how to practically implement key suggestions proposed in the HELP Principle to Address Water-related Disaster Risk Reduction under Covid-19 Pandemic. The consultation also aims exchanges among decision-makers, experts and practitioners in Asia region on how they can be better prepared for co-occurring disasters on water and health.

Protecting and Conserving  Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin in Kenya

Kenya Water Partnership coordinated the development of a Catchment-wide Action Plan for the Protection and Conservation of the Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin. The action planning is part of the pilot project launched by UNEP, GWP and Cap-Net focusing on three target countries (Kenya, Kazakhstan and Argentina)

Regional Consultation on Draft Action Framework for IWRM in the CARICOM Region

The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), a partner in the Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (IWEco) project, was subcontracted to execute activities under project component 3 (policy & legislation). The mandate was to implement the development of an Action Framework for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) for the CARICOM Region in collaboration with The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Gender dimensions in natural resources management: 'Women in the Drina River Basin have the power to solve environmental threats'

Stakeholders from the political sphere, scientists, activists, and professionals that participated at the online workshop “Gender dimensions in the sustainable management of natural resources through a Nexus approach in the Drina River Basin” acknowledged the fact that women are disproportionately affected by natural disasters and should have a more active role in decision making on environmental issues.
