GWP and the International Water Law Academy (IWLA) of Wuhan University are co-organising an interactive online series called the "Transboundary Freshwater Security Governance Train". The series of online engagement sessions is conducted in an approach of a ‘train’ stopping at various locations around the world, focusing on topics related to transboundary freshwater security. At each stop, a different topic from the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security is explored. The 6th and final session is on groundwater and the implementation of legal commitments, and it takes place on 15 June.
The first phase of the project TonFuturTonClimat funded by the Quebec Government implemented in three West African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo) by ISW, GWP-WA, CWPs and Eau Vive Togo is coming to an end. Launched at regional level in March 2017 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, the project is aiming at developing the climate resilience capacities of rural and peri-urban youth to become agricultural entrepreneurs that contribute to improve the livelihood of their communities in the three countries.
The 2021 European River Symposium is scheduled for 26-27 May. The event will focus on building connections between institutions, organisations and companies with an interest in rivers and whose activities affect the health and quality of river water and ecosystems.

Water governance must embrace gender equality and social inclusion if it is to truly contribute to poverty reduction as the world closes in on 2030, the world’s deadline for meeting the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals. Only by integrating gender and poverty issues into scientific research that informs and finances more equitable and inclusive policies, can we hope to move closer to these important goals.
To commemorate the 2022 International Women’s Day which is celebrated under the theme, “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, GWP -Central Africa spotlights three women who are leading the charge on climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, to build a more sustainable future for all. We asked them about what inspired them as women, to join the fight against climate change in their different scope of work plus their contributions so far to climate adaptation. In 2020, the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) began supporting the Government of the Dominican Republic (DR) to develop estimates of increased risk of flooding and landslides due to rainfall projections under climate change scenarios. This technical study was completed in the last quarter of 2020. It is one of a series of activities and outputs by GWP-C to inform the preparation of the country’s submission for the second round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and is part of the Climate Action Enhancement Package (CAEP) from the NDC Partnership.
International Youth Day is celebrated annually on 12 August to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and to celebrate the potential of youth as active partners in the global society. The 2021 theme for the day is about transforming food systems.
