GWP-WA together with IUCN-PACO and PREE project coordinating unit held an hybrid (part face to face and part virtually) Steering Committee meeting on 27 and 28 July, 2021.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Data Conference is held as a virtual event on 16-19 November. World Wetlands Day is celebrated on 2 February every year to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and our planet. The 2021 theme shines a spotlight on wetlands as a source of freshwater and encourages actions to restore them and stop their loss.
Every year, all GWP Regions meet to brainstorm, share knowledge and learn about current challenges and future opportunities for the network at the annual regional days. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, this year’s regional days was held virtually for a period of four days, starting June 1st with over 100 participants at the opening plenary chaired by the outgoing Executive Secretary (ES), Monika Weber-Fahr . All regions were fully represented including GWP-CAf which was represented by the Regional Chair, Regional coordinator, as well as the Finance and Communications officers.
The first phase of the project TonFuturTonClimat (Your future your Climate) has ended with overall good outcomes in all the countries (Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo). A final meeting was held in Cotonou, Benin on 10 and 11 November 2020 to capitalize on the main outcomes of the pilot actions carried out and draw lessons learned.
The Country Water Partnership of Guinea (PNEGUI) took part on September 30, 2021, in the scoping workshop for the development of the national action plan for integrated water resources management (PAGIRE).
