Protecting and Conserving  Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin in Kenya

Kenya Water Partnership coordinated the development of a Catchment-wide Action Plan for the Protection and Conservation of the Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin. The action planning is part of the pilot project launched by UNEP, GWP and Cap-Net focusing on three target countries (Kenya, Kazakhstan and Argentina)

The 2021 UN Climate Change Conference - COP26

The 2021 edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference - also known as COP26 - takes place in Glasgow, United Kingdom, from 31 October to 12 November. The event brings countries together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. As in previous years, GWP will be active at the COP to bring water insights to the climate agenda.

Coming together for sustainable development in the Drin River Basin; Five key lessons from Southeastern Europe for successful transboundary cooperation

Covering a geographical area of 20,361 km2 connecting 5 countries and 5 water bodies, the Drin Basin in Southeast Europe sustains unique ecosystems and endemic biodiversity, while supporting the economic activity of over 1.6 million people who call it home. However, four transboundary problems - deterioration of water quality, variability of hydrological regime, biodiversity degradation and disturbance of the natural sediment transport regime - are threatening the basin’s health with a direct impact on both the environment and livelihoods.

Webinar GWP-SEA IAP2 Indonesia

Water security is widely recognised as one of the major challenges to global economic and social development. Civil society involvement in water projects exists to supplement or complement government efforts in solving the water problems. However, many of the civil society’s efforts and contributions are still not captured or recognized as part of the country’s achievement. The present situation still shows that a dedicated effort to facilitate this potential alignment is still missing, and therefore consider as such a waste of resources.
Therefore, the webinar is held with the objective to showcase and gain inputs on different options or mechanisms of enhancing public participation for optimal water governance at a different levels.  Check this URL for more information

GWP-WA supports Togo to update the framework law on the environment

The Togolese Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources (MERF) in collaboration with Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) organised from 05 to 08 July 2022, the workshop for the restitution, consolidation and validation of the results of the work of the first meeting of experts on the updating of the framework law on the environment in Togo in Kpalimé, Togo.
