GWP-UNICEF WASH Products Used for Analysis and Advocacy

In 2014, GWP and UNICEF established a strategic partnership to work on climate resilience and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). The collaboration resulted in a Strategic Framework and a range of technical briefs and guidance notes to support the implementation of the Framework. In February 2018, a website was launched with the knowledge products. Since then, they have become among the most downloaded publications with GWP involvement. To mark World Toilet Day 2019 (19 November), which has a strong link to WASH, GWP followed up on the use of the material.

Meeting of the Volta Flood and Drought Management Project team

As part of the implementation of the activities of the Project "Integrating Flood and Drought Management and Early Warning for Climate Change Adaptation in the Volta Basin", the implementing partners met on 27 September 2019 in the conference room of the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) to discuss the modalities for the implementation of the first activities of the Project.

Rabia Faousia OUEDRAOGO, a 2iE student shares her experience of internship at GWP WA Secretariat

Rabia Faousia OUEDRAOGO is a young student at the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2IE), in her third year of a degree in Water and Sanitation, who completed an internship at the GWP-WA Regional Secretariat from January to March 2019. As part of her activities, she carried out a field visit on 01 March 2019, in the village of Ramitenga, a rural commune of Loumbila. She spoke with young people and women from the beneficiary population about their participation in the activities of the micro-drip irrigation demonstration project initiated as part of the WACDEP Programme in Burkina Faso. In this article, Ms. Ouédraogo draws lessons from her forty-five-day stay at GWP-WA Regional Secretariat and makes recommendations following the field mission.

Debating the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus in the MENA and wider Mediterranean, Beirut, 26-28 November 2018

Gathering more than 70 high level MENA representatives -from national and regional institutions involved in the sectors of water management, energy production, food and agriculture, and environmental protection, as well as financing institutions- the 1st Nexus Roundtable in the MENA and wider Mediterranean solidly contributed to the ongoing Dialogue processes in the Region for the incorporation of Water, Energy, Food and Ecosystems Nexus considerations in national and transboundary water resources management planning, including the link between the Nexus approach and vulnerable groups (women, youth, poor), and the enhancement of related capacities of MENA institutions and stakeholders.

IWRM for the Hydrological Unit of Assanto in the Commune of Zagnanado

Zangnanado is a rural commune located in the Department of Zou (center of Benin). The implementation of activities of the OmiDelta Governance Component with the establishment of Local Water Committees (LWCs) allowed the identification of two hydrological units in GBADOHOUIN and ASSANTÔ, in the Lower and Middle Ouémé Valley.
