The Transboundary Freshwater Security Governance Train continues its journey in 2022 on 16 February, with its 10th interactive session in the series. This time, the event explores how the design of Transboundary Water Agreements affects their performance and whether there are key ingredients that should structure these agreements.

“Integrated water resources management says it all. We have to talk about the inter-dependencies of water. Water is life, we say, and it really connects to everything … If water is connected to everything, we have to act on that, but we shy away from the real understanding of what water means … either because of its complexity … or because it is connected to past practices and vested interests.”

The Directorate of Water Resources Management and Planning (DGPRE) of Senegal in collaboration with CWP Senegal organised on 22 October 2021 a workshop with the aim of sharing the reports elaborated by the consultants and collecting the opinions of the actors of the water sector on the results of the process of accompaniment to the acceleration of the implementation of phase 2 of the IWRM Plan (PAGIRE 2).

The Central American Commission for Environment and Development (CCAD) and GWP Central America reported back to the Ministries of Environment of Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala on the national workshops regarding integrated drought management. GWP Central America coordinated a series of workshops on integrated drought management as part of the project “Increasing Disaster Risk Reduction Capacity due to Floods and Drought and Promoting Resilience in Central America”, financed by EUROCLIMA+.

The report on the progress on IWRM in the Asia-Pacific region is based on the national consultations held last year to assess the implementation of SDG 6.5.1. Based on the analysis of country responses to the 2020 Data Drive on that indicator, as well as interviews with focal points and an online Learning Exchange, we are pleased to present the "Progress on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the Asia-Pacific Region 2021: Learning exchange on monitoring and implementation towards SDG 6.5.1" .  The report was launched online to coincide with the Stockholm Water Week 2021, during the Asia Focus session: Accelerating inclusive water governance to advance sustainable development, on 25 August 2021. A CWP Burkina and GWP-WA team visited the extension site of the project in Ramitenga on 07, 08 and 11 November to advance the site development work.

The new Wastewater Management Decision Support Tool (WEMDST), a pilot within the GEF Drin Project, will help local planners identify environmentally efficient and cost-efficient solutions.
