During the 5^th Meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Water Expert Group (WEG) in November 2015, a UfM Ministerial Conference on Water has been proposed to take place the first semester of 2017 in Malta. The technical process towards that was launched  with the WEG mandating a Drafting Group to elaborate on technical contents, in case the political partners decide to convene the suggested ministerial meeting.

GWP recognises the importance of the private sector, a key stakeholder, in delivering the water-related development agenda. The integrated water resources management approach can add value to existing corporate stewardship initiatives and leverage the strengths and perspectives of the private sector to improve water management and governance.

The Project Manager (PM) and Communication Officer (CO) of WACDEP participated in an experience sharing of field demonstration partners on activities on28^th June, 2016. The Experience sharing took place in the conference room of the Department of Agriculture of the Bawku Municipal Assembly.

GWP West Africa new Executive Secretary Armand HOUANYE was officially introduced by the former one Dam MOGBANTE to the Director General of water resources (DGRE) of Burkina Faso, Mr. Serge TRAORE, on 21 November 2017.

Pr. Abel AFOUDA visited the secretariat from 21 to 26 March 2016. He discussed with the personnel all issues from traditional running ones to project technical and planning issues.

 

GWP recognizes the importance of engaging youth in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable economic development as the demand for natural resources, and particularly water increases. It strives to engage with young people, youth organizations, and young water professionals, and to empower them to become agents of change

The Africa Water Facility (AWF)/ African Development Bank (AfDB) and Global Water Partnership (GWP) are supporting the Development Plan and Feasibility Study for Urban Sanitation, Drainage and Solid Waste Management in Chimoio and Inhambane in Mozambique. The overall goal of the investments is to improve climate resilience and health in the two target municipalities. This will be achieved through improved services in sanitation, drainage and solid waste management, impacting in the form of reduced risk for flooding and improved health. From the 8th to the 16th March 2017, Representatives from GWP and AWF/ AfDB attended the project launch mission in Maputo, Chimoio and Inhambane.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. The 5th World Ocean Summit will be held at Riviera Maya, Mexico, on 7-9 March. The event is organised by the Economist Group.
