World Water Day is a major event celebrated and observed by the Philippine water sector.
This year’s WWD theme:“International Year of Water Cooperation” was translated into local slogan of “Tubig Para sa Lahat, Lahat Para sa Tubig” (“Water for all, all for Water”) and served as the core message for the celebration participated by multi-stakeholders coming from the government sector, private sector and non-government organizations (NGOs).

The Inception Meeting of the Preparation Phase of the GEF Project “Enabling Transboundary Cooperation and Integrated Water Resources Management in the Extended Drin River Basin” was organized on the 27th and 28th May 2013 in Tirana, Albania, back to back with the First Meeting of the Parties to Drin Memorandum of Understanding .
Following a decision to decentralise water and wastewater services, many questions regarding the sustainable financing of water and waste services was raised. Recognising that economic and financial conditions are critical to the effectiveness of various tariff and effluent charge reforms, a financial model (ASTEC) was devised. This case demonstrates the value of using economic instruments to support the implementation of IWRM management objectives.
On World Water Day 22 March 2012, it was announced that a close partner organization of GWP, the International Water Management Institute, wins this year's Stockholm Water Prize “for for their pioneering research that has served to improve agriculture water management, enhance food security, protect environmental health and alleviate poverty in developing countries.”
