Validation workshop of the Pan-African Monitoring and Reporting System for the water and sanitation sector funded by the African Ministers' Council on Water and Sanitation (AMCOW). This activity was organized by the National Directorate of Water (DNH) of Guinea under the chairmanship of the director Mr. Mandiou Condé.
Africa Climate Week 2020 was set to place on 20-24 April in Kampala, Uganda, however, in light of the Coronavirus crisis, the event has been postponed - a new date is yet to be announced. The theme remains “Partnering for transformation towards a low-carbon climate resilient and prosperous Africa: managing risks, seizing opportunities.”
The Central African Republic Country Water Partnership held its General Assembly and the Steering Committee Meeting on November 27 and 28 respectively in Bangui.
To strengthen journalists understanding of water security and climate resilience for effective communication with stakeholders, the Central Africa Republic Country Water Partnership (PNE-RCA), with the technical and financial support of the GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAF) and UNICEF, organized a two day capacity building workshop for media professionals in Bangui in December 2019. The participants at the workshop expressed their gratitude for the initiative and committed to contribute to the sensitization of stakeholders on water security and climate resilience. They also made a series of recommendations to key stakeholders, on enhancing water security and climate resilience. Steps have since been taken by PNE-RCA to implement the recommendations made towards the establishment of a network of water and climate journalists, and plans have been made to sustain it through subsequent capacity building workshops.
International Youth Day is celebrated annually on 12 August to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and to celebrate the potential of youth as active partners in the global society. The 2021 theme for the day is about transforming food systems.
22 October 2020, the China Water News published a special issue on which composed interviews with leaders of the Ministry of Water Resources, GWP China, IAHR, ICID and more international organizations. The powers, from various standpoints, introduced their international water cooperation outcomes and highlights.
A workshop “Gender dimensions in the sustainable management of natural resources through a Nexus approach in the Drina River Basin” was held online on June 23 2021. Approximately 80 stakeholders from Ministries, local NGOs, Nexus related institutions and agencies and academia from the Drina River Basin joined the workshop that focused on the interplay between sustainable management of natural resources and gender in the three countries of the region: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia.
