The concept of gender mainstreaming in water resources management is not new, and while the ambition is clear, we are not advancing at the pace we need. Why is that? How can countries accelerate progress towards gender mainstreaming in water resources management?

The new Wastewater Management Decision Support Tool (WEMDST), a pilot within the GEF Drin Project, will help local planners identify environmentally efficient and cost-efficient solutions.

IHE Delft Institute for Water Education is one of the partners of the Water ChangeMaker Awards. In June 2020, the Ministry of Water Resources sent an expert team to Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, to explore water development regarding science and technology in mountain areas. Prof Yunzhong Jiang, regional coordinator of GWP China, was one of the professional advisors.

A CWP Burkina and GWP-WA team including the regional Project Officer, a Young Professional and the Executive Secretary of the CWP-BF, visited Koankin in the rural commune of Saponé to monitor and observe the effective start of composting activities as part of the implementation of the TFTC project in Burkina Faso.

The ECOWAS Water Resources Management Center (WRMC) held virtual meetings with various regional stakeholders including GWP-WA to discuss ways to improve the regional contribution and participation the 9th World Water Forum to be held in Dakar.

August 31, 2020 – Enhancing water security between nations has become an imperative with water use in river basins surpassing sustainable limits and roughly 60% of the world’s freshwater resources crossing national borders. As a response, a new Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) aims to deliver the skills and knowledge for water cooperation. GEF IW:LEARN has been driving the development of the MOOC, coordinated and produced by Global Water Partnership (GWP), and with contributions from leading organisations.
