October 2013, President Jinping Xi raised the initiative of jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road (hereinafter referred to as the One Belt One Road), which have attracted close attention from all over the world.
Jointly organised by the Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) and the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), the competition encourages children to have a closer look at their local rivers and reflect on what the environment means to them. Children from all schools, NGOs, day care centres or associations for children in the Danube Basin are invited to create a piece of art and take part in the Danube Art Master competition, which has united thousands of children from across the Danube River Basin since 2004.
The World Water Forum, held every three years, is the world’s biggest water-related event, contributing to the dialogue of decision-makers on water at the global level, building political commitment and triggering action on critical water issues. The Mediterranean water community has traditionally been very active at the World Water Forum, voicing core messages and highlighting experiences from the region. This contribution has been concretized through a dedicated Mediterranean Preparatory Process. The 8th World Water Forum took place this year (18-23 March, Brasilia, Brazil) under the overarching theme “Sharing Water” and its more than 300 sessions were attended by 10,600 participants.
IDMP WA held its first regional meeting for the virtual platform on 28 March in Ouagadougou. Nine (9) participants representing CEDEAO/Water Resources Coordination Center, Volta Basin Authority, CILSS, 2ie, WASCAL and SP/GIRE attended the meeting.
