The Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) will be offering online courses in GIS for Hydrological Technicians and Flood Hazard Mapping during the months of September and October 2015.
GWP is introducing several new publications at World Water Week 2014: two GWP Technical Committee Background Papers, one Perspectives Paper, one Briefing Note and one Proceedings Paper. All of these are available online, and in hard copy through the GWP online order form.
This conference takes place in East London, South Africa 3-7 November 2014. The programme includes a mixture of papers and parallel sessions with key stakeholders in policy and advocacy.
GWP Central America joined two Latin American youth networks in the organization of the Latin American Youth and Environment Conference (#ELACJA), held in Mexico City from October 21-23. GWP supported the participation of six people from each of the countries in the region.
The 20th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 20) is held from 1 to 12 December in Lima, Peru. Representatives from GWP are present.
A series of activities called The Great Walk for Water initiated by some NGOs will be held from 22 February to 22 March 2015 to draw the World attention on the future "disappearance" of Lake Chad, if nothing is done. This great walk for water is a media caravan, actions and multidisciplinary activities to advocate for an increased attention on the situation of National and International Watercourses in Africa in general and especially the Lake Chad.
A Regional Training on Drought Risk Management and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) is being organized by the Nile IWRM-Net/ Cap-Net and Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa (GWPEA) and will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 15-19 June 2015.
The 5th Africa Water Week (AWW5) takes place in Dakar, Senegal on 26 to 31 May 2014. The event is convened by the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) in conjunction with the African Union Commission and organised with other development partners. GWP is involved in a number of activities.
On November 19, 2014, Dr. Zhong Lijing from the WRI China visited GWP China Secretariat to discuss the possibility of developing salon series under theme of water dialogue in coming years.
