CIMH 2015 Online Courses - GIS for Hydrological Technicians & Flood Hazard Mapping

The Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) will be offering online courses in GIS for Hydrological Technicians and Flood Hazard Mapping during the months of September and October 2015.

Dates and details of the two (2) online courses being offered:

GIS for Hydrological Technicians (September 7th – October 2nd, 2015)

This course introduces GIS concepts and applications. Participants will be given an introduction to basic Geographic Information System (GIS) concepts with a focus on hydrological applications. This includes the registering, manipulation and analysis of spatial data sets using the ArcGIS software package. Download Course Outline

Flood Hazard Mapping (October 5th – 30th, 2015)

This course focuses on the flood hazard mapping procedures. Participants will learn how to prepare data for flood analysis and will be given an introduction to flood hazard modelling and mapping using some basic functions and tool sets within ArcGIS. It is recommended that persons complete the GIS for Hydrological Technicians course before attempting the Flood Hazard Mapping course. Download Course Outline
