GWP-Med is co-organising a Technical Webinar: “Monitoring Strategies in Transboundary Aquifers: Goals, Methods and Tools - The case study of Skadar/Shkoder – Buna/Bojana Delta transboundary alluvial aquifer”

GWP promotes youth inclusion in water resources management. One of those ways is through a robust internship programme. Civil Engineer Axel Martinez, 26, from Nicaragua, spent five months with GWP Central America as a Young Professional Development Initiative Intern under GWP’s Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP). He says the experience has helped him to grow professionally.

In celebration of International Youth Day 2020 on 12 August, GWP organised an online discussion with GWP Youth Engagement Specialist Rianna Gonzales, who interviewed GWP Southern Africa Youth Coordinator Paseka Lesolang about his achievements as an entrepreneur and influencer. Paseka said that one of the most important skills that has brought him to where he is today, is self-knowledge. This has allowed him to stretch himself to the next point. “Know thyself” was therefore one of his key messages.

This month, Howard Bamsey began his duties as the new Chair of GWP. He did so with a visit to the global secretariat in Stockholm, Sweden, where he met staff and got briefed on current issues around the network. We took the opportunity to discuss his thoughts on joining GWP, and his reflections on some of GWP’s most recent activities at the UN climate change conference, COP24, in December.

The Asia-Pacific Water Forum (APWF) is organising a webinar series as part of the preparation for the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit (a date for the Summit is yet to be confirmed). Part 2 of the webinar series takes place on 7 October, featuring GWP Chair Howard Bamsey, who will speak on the topic of "Climate change, sustainable development and investors: more risks, more opportunities through better governance".

In March 2019, Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe and the EU Strategy For The Danube Region Priority Area 4 (Water Quality) and Priority Area 5 (Environmental Risks) signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
