The Global Water Partnership (GWP) Steering Committee announced the appointment of Dr. Monika Weber-Fahr as GWP Executive Secretary, effective May 7, 2018. The ECOWAS/WRCC accompanied the countries sharing the Comoé, Bia and Tanoé river basins (Mali, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire) in the process of establishing a common authority.
Monika Weber-Fahr took up her new position as Executive Secretary of Global Water Partnership on 7 May. “As the newest kid on the block I’m feeling very humbled. I’m inspired by what the network is and what it has done in the past 20+ years, and what it can do going forward in a world where water is such a huge priority”, she says.
The President of GWP-CAf is recruited amongst political, scientific or technical personalities from a country in the Central African sub-region, with recognised experience in cooperation and networking, and with the capacity to mobilise stakeholders in the water sector.

GWP promotes youth inclusion in water resources management. One of those ways is through a robust internship programme. He says the experience has helped him to grow professionally.
