The idea underpinning this Regional Report was to impart a regional perspective to the systematic work done in the four focus countries and to put together findings from the respective technical documents in one report to help stakeholders from the countries and the region become aware of similarities as well as peculiarities belonging to the individual countries.
Considering the above, the Regional Report first reviews briefly the nexus of governance and sustainable financing for the water sector, with emphasis on private sector participation, then reflects on the findings of the national and regional dialogues of the Project, highlighting core cases from the focus countries and concludes with reflections on the way forward.

The first International Forum on Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG) which gathered delegates from 47 countries ended with the Praia Commitments, which aim to promote sustainable water management as an engine for development, strengthening synergies across the Sustainable Development Agenda by 2030, and supporting farmers through improved access to finance, innovative technologies and the adoption of sustainable water management practices.
The Global Water Partnership (GWP) is supporting the Government of the Dominican Republic to implement a series of activities to inform the country’s submission for the second round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). These activities are part of the Climate Action Enhancement Package from the NDC Partnership.
The Volta Basin Authority (VBA) held from 9 to 11 April 2019 the 4th session of the Forum of Parties which is a platform bringing together in addition to the VBA member States representatives of major stakeholders including farmers, women, youth associations, private sector, NGOs, etc. active in the basin.

In order to contribute to the reflections towards the adoption legal basis for the establishment and composition of Local Water Committees (LWCs) which are local body for water resource management in a river basin, CWP-Benin in collaboration with the General Directorate for Water (DGEau), organized on 28 and 29 January 2020 a workshop for exchanges on the establishment of Local Water Committees.
