African leaders, water experts, development partners, and regional institutions have reaffirmed the urgent need to strengthen cooperation and investment in Africa’s shared water resources during the Continental Level Consultation and Exchange Event on Transboundary Water Cooperation, held from 17 to 18 February 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Lomé, November 11, 2025 – The Regional Initiative for Water and Environment in the Transboundary Mono River Basin (RIWE-Mono) project has reached a decisive milestone with the official launch of the Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) and Strategic Action Programme (SAP) process.
In occasion of the International Children's Day, the study tour was kicked off in the Physical Model Yellow River, Zhengzhou, Henan Province, on May 27, 2024, opening the National Science Week activity series.
The SDG 6.5.1 Support Program is GWP’s flagship program aimed at assisting the national SDG 6.5.1. Focal Points in the organisation and facilitation of multi-stakeholder consultation on SDG Indicator 6.5.1, also known as Stage 1 support. The second stage is designed to facilitate the development of an Action Plan or similar in response to the identified challenges in Stage 1. Lastly, Stage 3 has an objective to support the implementation of the selected actions.

Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP SEA) was invited by WMO Regional Office Asia to attend The ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre (ASMC) – WMO Regional Forum held in Singapore 4-6 September 2024.
Angola and Namibia have officially launched the technical process for developing a Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA), Strategic Action Plan (SAP), and National Action Plans (NAP) for the Cuvelai and Kunene River Basins. The process is being undertaken under the "Enhanced Water Security and Community Resilience in the Adjacent Cuvelai and Kunene Transboundary River Basins (CUVKUN)" project, which is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as the GEF Implementing Agency. The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) is the Executing Agency, while the Cuvelai Commission (CUVECOM) and Kunene Permanent Joint Technical Committee (PJTC) are the focal custodians of the project implementation.
