The 5th Ordinary Session of the Ministerial Monitoring Committee (MMC) for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in West Africa was held on 28 June 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria. This meeting was preceded by the 11th ordinary session of the Technical Experts Committee (TCE) from 25 to 27 June 2024.

The updating of the Communication Strategy together with the Action Plan 2018-2020 of the Volta Basin Authority (VBA), has been integrated into the Implementation Plan of the Project "Reversing the Trends of Ecosystem and Water Resources Degradation in the Volta Basin (REWarD - Volta River Basin)", financed by the GEF and executed by the VBA and GWP-WA in close collaboration with UNEP and IUCN.
As part of the implementation of the REWarD-Volta Project, GWP-WA has signed a contract with UNEP-DHI to work as a sub-consultant to provide technical support to the VBA to deliver a number of results of the REWarD project, including annual Surface Water Resource Models and Decision Support Tools, Community Oriented Early Warning System(s) for Droughts and capacitate the Volta Basin Observatory to manage and use the updated water use/balance models and the DSS
CWP Côte d'Ivoire (PNECI) requested and obtained an audience with the UNDP Resident Representative in Côte d'Ivoire. The audience enabled PNECI to inform the UNDP representative about the IWRM operationalisation process in Côte d'Ivoire and to request his support for its implementation.
