Hanoi, 4 December 2018 -- The main reason behind the Workshop on the Development of SDG IWRM Action Plan was to bring up the concept of "IWRM” - Integrated Water Resources Management - to the discussion table. GWPO supports this workshop as their mandate in support of the adoption and implementation of IWRM, in particular related to the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG6).

The Country Water Partnership of Côte d'Ivoire (PNECI), together with the Ministry of Water and Forestry, took part in a workshop on the indicators of target 6.4 of the SDG #6 " Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all ".
The “1st Nexus Roundtable in the MENA and wider Mediterranean” will be held on 26-28 November 2018, in Beirut, Lebanon, at the Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace, under the auspices of the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water and in partnership with the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the United Nations Environment Programme / Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP MAP).
Effective, accurate monitoring of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 (Water and Sanitation) is a technical process that requires considerable effort at the local level. Successful monitoring and reporting are contingent on regional circumstance, national institutional arrangements and associated capacities of agencies and ministries therein. As such, region specific adaptations are necessary to enhance existing methodologies toward increased efficacy and functionality at the local level.
Aiming to foster youth involvement in the water and climate action in Mauritania, GWP-Med is organizing in collaboration with the Mauritanian NGO “AISER, Citoyenneté et Droits Humains” a training cycle composed of a series of three workshops targeting youth active in local NGOs. The workshops will be organized in the framework of the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) implemented in Mauritania by GWP-Med. At the end of the training workshops, participants’ capacities are expected to be enhanced in relation to climate change risks evaluation, adaptation actions identification and projects proposals formulation and funds leverage.

The Zambezi Watercourse Commission (ZAMCOM) in collaboration with its partners, will hold this year’s annual Zambezi Basin-wide Stakeholders Forum from 8-9 October in Lilongwe, Malawi. The Basin-wide Stakeholders Forum brings together those with an interest in the Zambezi River Basin to share information and experiences around a selected theme.
The 14th UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP14) takes place 2-13 September at the India Expo Center and Mart, in New Delhi, India. GWP is represented and play an active role during the second week of the event.
