Global Water Partnership-Southern Africa (GWP-SA) announced its re-positioning to re-align and adapt to regional and continental industrial strategy that will entail greater focus on water security, jobs and investments.

The theme of the conference was “Enhancing resilience to drought events on the African Continent”. The conference was aimed at discussing ways by the participants (African Union states, UN agencies and other stakeholders) of enhancing resilience on the African continent

Partners of the Global Framework for Action to Cope with Water Scarcity in Agriculture in a Changing Climate (the Global Framework) met in Rome, Italy, on 19-20 April. This was the first meeting since the initiative was launched last year. A statement was issued to demonstrate commitment to address water scarcity in agriculture. As a Partner, GWP participated and was also confirmed as a member of an interim Steering Committee.

 

The World Water Day was commemorated in Uganda on Monday, 23 March 2015. The celebration ceremony took place at the new premises of the Directorate of Water Resources Management in Entebbe under the theme of Water and Sustainable Development.
