GWP-WA together with the Permanent Secretary of the IWRM Plan of Niger and CWP Niger have finalized the recruitment process of the Project Management Team including a Project Officer, an Administrative and Finance Officer, an administrative and finance assistant and a driver-courier.
The 13th Steering Committee and the 6th General Assembly of GWP-CAf took place in Douala, Cameroon from the 30th of October to the 1st of November 2019 and brought together some 25 participants from Central African’s CWPs and representatives of the member organizations of the statutory bodies.
On 2 February, World Wetlands Day is celebrated worldwide. The aim is to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and our planet. Wetlands and Biodiversity is the theme for 2020.
The Danube Drought Conference, held on 7-8 May in Vienna, Austria focused on the challenges and joint cooperation in the area of drought management in the Danube region.
GWP is collaborating with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) secretariat and other partners to create a vision and plausible water solutions of a desirable climate-resilient future in 2030 and beyond. The new initiative is called "Water Resilience Frontiers: Pathways for transformational Climate Resilient Water Security in 2030 and Beyond". The initiative is part of the UNFCCC Nairobi Work Programme’s Resilience Frontiers. The UNFCCC is convening a Resilience Lab for the duration of COP25. World Water Day (WWD) is commemorated on 22 March every year. This year’s theme was “Leaving no one behind”. GWP and its Partners worldwide supported the theme by arranging a wide range of activities. NEW YORK (USA) – Global Water Partnership (GWP) introduced its new strategy, Mobilising for a Water Secure World at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on July 11, 2019.
The triennial World Irrigation Forum (WIF) takes place 1-7 September in Bali, Indonesia. GWP South East Asia is participating in the event, and will launch the new 2020-2025 GWP Strategy, Mobilising for a Water Secure World.
