Within the framework of Water Climate Development Program- Gender (WACDEP-G), GWP-CAf organized the first WACDEP-G capacity building workshop in the region on October 14th 2020 in Yaounde, Cameroon.
#LeavingNoOneBehind is another global campaign of GWP in March of 2019. Multiple partners in the network from 85 countries are loyal supporters to GWP on this theme in the run-up to #WWD2019.
On 11 September 2019, GWP, together with the World Bank and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), launched a new working paper: “Framework for the Assessment of Benefits of Action/Cost of Inaction (BACI) for Drought Preparedness.” The launch took place on the Drought Preparedness Day at the 14th UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP14), held in New Delhi, India.
The INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "RATIONAL USE OF WATER RESOURCES - KEY FOR ACHIEVING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS" organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the State Committee of Water Resources took place from 5-6 November 2019 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. GWP's new Strategy 2020-2025 was also launched at the event.
The regional organization Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med | www.gwpmed.org) and the Energy and Water Agency of Malta (EWA| www.energywateragency.gov.mt) are issuing a call for proposals for college and university students and newly graduates.
Hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Hydraulics for the Republic of Congo (MEH) and facilitated by Country Water Partnership Congo and the UNESCO International Hydrological Programme (IHP Congo), the validation workshop for the national report on SDG 6.5.2 for the country took place in Brazzaville, Congo on the 22nd of June, 2020. The workshop had as objective to discuss on the state of Congo's water resources and cooperation in the field of transboundary waters and validate the draft report on SDG indicator 6.5.2, which assesses cooperation on transboundary rivers, lake basins and transboundary aquifers.
Several events will take place as part of the Korea Global Adaptation Week on 8-12 April in Songdo, Republic of Korea. GWP will play an active role in a number of sessions throughout the week.
Submission are now open for the Water ChangeMaker Awards - a new initiative that seeks to highlight experiences in the way water decisions have built climate resilience.
While some countries continue to treat climate change as a hoax, the Zambian government has called on the international community to accept the view by scientists that unless world governments act quickly, planet earth faces the real risk of endangering all life forms by 2030.
