The regional organization Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med | www.gwpmed.org) and the Energy and Water Agency of Malta (EWA| www.energywateragency.gov.mt) are issuing a call for proposals for college and university students and newly graduates.
The Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) Regional Council announced the appointment of Dr Khondaker Azharul Haq as the GWP SAS Chairperson in effective of 1 January 2019.

GWP has organised five regional consultations on the proposed HELP Principles on Investments and Financing for water-related disaster risk reduction. The consultations were held in Central and Eastern Europe, South Asia, Southern Africa, South East Asia and South America. “Disasters are barriers for development. In our region we are struggling to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All these issues must be part of the political agenda in every country," said Alejandra Mujica, Regional Coordinator of GWP South America, who hosted the final consultation on 23 April.
13 October marks the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. The day is centered around the seven targets of the Sendai Framework, and this year focuses on Target D: reduce disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of basic services. According to the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) floods are the most common natural disaster with the largest impacts on society. A workshop to kick-off the project, proposing a Master Plan for Integrated Trijuga River Improvement and Basin Development based on Principles on Investment and Financing for Water-related Disaster Risk Reduction will be held on Thursday, 13 February 2020 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
