Each year on March 8th, the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) joins the world in commemorating International Women’s Day (IWD); a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Created in October 2008, the Country Water Partnership of Sao Tome's mission is to promote Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Sao Tome and Principe, in the sub-region and all over the world, to strengthen collaboration between partners and develop cooperation with national and international organizations.
The Silk Road began in ancient China and connected with Asia, Africa and Europe. The “Belt and Road” aims to borrow the historical symbols of the ancient Silk Road. Contemporary Silk Road pays attention to sharing and win-win and realises the diversified, independent, balanced and sustainable development of countries along the route through the interconnection of Asian, American and European continents and nearby oceans.

The 2nd Regional Conference of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) labelled project Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector will be held on 5-6 December 2016, in Tunis, Tunisia, in synergy with the UfM’s Pollution Reduction & Prevention Investment (PRPI) Group.

13 October marks the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. The day is centered around the seven targets of the Sendai Framework, and this year focuses on Target D: reduce disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of basic services. According to the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) floods are the most common natural disaster with the largest impacts on society. The chair and permanent secretary of the Country Water Partnership (CWP) Niger took part in the "National consultation workshop on the BIOPALT project - Biosphere and Lake Chad Heritage", on 12 and 13 February 2017 in Niamey.
A consultation meeting on Learning Deltas Asia Initiatives (LDAI), an Inter-Regional Collaboration between Global Water Partnership (GWP) South Asia and South East Asia was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 26 to 28 February 2017 with the participation of delegations of Bangladesh and Myanmar.
