Phnom Penh, 11 December 2018 -- The two days Regional Steering Committee Meeting was held to discussed several topics, among others: the accreditation of Country Water Partnership, namely Cambodia WP, Thailand WP, and Lao-PDR WP; Locally raise fund; distribution of GWP’s seed fund; improvement of Operational and Capacity (OPCAP) status; and preparation of the new GWP-SEA chairman.

GWP-C is collaborating with its Partner, Haiti Survie to establish a community Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) system in a water scare community in the country. The project began on April 1st, 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by July 31st, 2019.
On 16 January 2018, India Water Partnership (IWP) in collaboration with TARU Leading Edge kick-started constructing rainwater harvesting (RWH) tanks with a demo project, at the Senior Secondary Government School in Village Garhi Harsaru, Gurgaon.
Hanoi, 22 March 2019 -- In the Southeast Asia region, prone to many disasters such as cyclones, floods and droughts, many efforts are being made to build capacity, influence policies and develop strategies to better equip member states to prevent and address disaster. Given the need and importance of paying attention to water-related disasters, the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP), drafted ‘principles on investment and financing for water related disaster risk reduction’, which was launched during the 8th World Water Forum in Brazil. Building on a cooperation between the Global Water Partnership (GWP), the HELP and Japanese government, a session on DRR is organized with the main objective to consult on investment and financing for water related-disaster risk reduction principles. This consultation was organized as part of Viet Nam wAter Cooperation Initiative (VACI) 2019 as this initiative is closely related to the VACI’s objectives, which was designed to share and co-create innovative water solution with emphasis on Vietnam and tropical water issues. Dr. Monika Weber-Fahr, GWP’s new Executive Secretary has visited West Africa in the last week of June. She had a stay in Dakar, Senegal to take part in the World Water Forum’s Board of Governors’ meeting, and in the Climate KIC strategy meeting.
The HLPW was co-convened in 2016 by the UN Secretary-General and the World Bank President to provide the leadership required to tackle one of the world’s most pressing challenges – an ever growing water crisis. The Panel identified ways in which the world could accelerate progress towards ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all (SDG 6).
On August 30, 2017, GWP China and WRI jointly organized side event of ‘Circular Economy Cities: Transforming China and India's Urban Wastewater’ during the 2017 World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden.

Professor Amadou Hama MAIGA is the new chair of Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA). It was proclaimed following a recruitment process approved by the Assembly of Partners on 29 September 2017 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
