The capacity building programme on the resilience of WASH services, started in October 2018 with the sessions on Climate Change and Water Resources Management, ended with the session on strategic planning from the 07th to the 09th of November 2018 in Maroua, Cameroon.
On 11 September 2019, GWP, together with the World Bank and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), launched a new working paper: “Framework for the Assessment of Benefits of Action/Cost of Inaction (BACI) for Drought Preparedness.” The launch took place on the Drought Preparedness Day at the 14th UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP14), held in New Delhi, India.
Zimbabwe held the Water Resources Infrastructure Investment Conference from the 4th to the 5th June as part of the Government’s bid to mobilise resources for the accelerated development of the country’s water infrastructure.
The transboundary issue is key in water resources management in Africa and mostly in West Africa where all countries except the Island of Cape Verde share at least one river with at least another country. The region has 22 major transboundary river basins, and six established transboundary river basin authorities to contribute to strengthen transboundary cooperation.

International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year to commemorate the movement for women's rights. For 2018, International Women’s Day comes on the heels of unprecedented global movement for women’s rights, equality and justice. This has taken the form of global marches and campaigns, including #MeToo and #TimesUp in the United States of America and their counterparts in other countries, on issues ranging from sexual harassment and femicide to equal pay and women’s political representation. In this context, the UN theme for the 2018 International Women’s Day is “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.
On June 8, 2017, marked the ten-year history of cooperation between Hebei Province and South Holland on water resources development, and thereby celebrating the anniversary in Shijiazhuang, the capital city of Hebei Province.
