As part of the “Regional Initiative for Water and Environment in the Transboundary Mono River Basin (RIWE-Mono, 2024–2028)”, the Mono Basin Authority (MBA), in collaboration with the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) and the Global Water Partnership in West Africa (GWP-WA), organized on September 22, 2025, a national workshop dedicated to amending the draft report of the Methodological Guide for the development and implementation of the Mono Basin Water Charter.

As part of the implementation of the REWarD-Volta Project, GWP-WA has signed a contract with UNEP-DHI to work as a sub-consultant to provide technical support to the VBA to deliver a number of results of the REWarD project, including annual Surface Water Resource Models and Decision Support Tools, Community Oriented Early Warning System(s) for Droughts and capacitate the Volta Basin Observatory to manage and use the updated water use/balance models and the DSS
UNCCD COP16 is set to be the largest conference in the Convention's history, with high expectations for impactful outcomes, particularly in addressing drought. Held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 2-13 December 2024, this COP will bring together global leaders, experts, and stakeholders to accelerate solutions for land restoration, resilience to drought, and sustainable land management under the theme “Our Land.
