Over 13 years, GWPEA has strived to promote IWRM as an integrated solution to water insecurity and climate change

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) of Trinidad and Tobago and the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, will host the first-ever Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Research Symposium in Trinidad on July 15^th and 16^th, 2015 at The University Inn and Conference Centre in St. Augustine.

The African Development Bank(AfDB), in its capacity as the chair of the Regional Process Commission of the 8th World Water Forum, African Ministerial Council on Water (AMCOW) as overall Africa Regional Process Coordinator, and Global Water Partnership (GWP) as Africa Regional Process Technical Coordinator for the 8th World Water Forum convened a regional workshop in Entebbe , Uganda on 18-19th January 2018 to consult and validate the African report in preparation of the 8th World Water Forum to be held in Brasilia, Brazil, from 18th to 23rd March 2018

One of the key outcomes from the High-Level Panel on Water (2016-2018) was to establish a set of 5 principles on Valuing Water. Following from those recommendations, the Valuing Water Initiative (VWI) was created to support actors in putting those principles into practice. Since the beginning, GWP has been committed to promoting the Valuing Water Principles (VWPs) and using value-based approaches as part of its efforts towards improving water resources management. In collaboration with VWI, GWP supports events and consultation engagement processes at regional and global scales, mainstreams the VWPs in the design and implementation of IWRM plans, promotes the VWPs within its youth engagement initiatives, and develops knowledge products and methodologies related to Valuing Water.

The National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS) that was adopted in July 2014 was officially launched by the Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the 19^th of November 2015 at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe. The launch was attended by senior government officials, representatives from different organisations in the water sector and the local leadership drawn from the 9 Provinces around the country. The launch came at a time when Zimbabwe is stepping up efforts towards climate change adaptation and mitigation as witnessed by the development of the Strategy and the Intended National Determined Contributions (INDCs) to support the process.

The Central America region is generously endowed with water resources, but concerns are growing about water scarcity in parts of the region. This can mean both a physical lack of water and a lack of mechanisms and actions for effectively managing, allocating, and developing water resources. A new GWP Technical Focus Paper focuses on these issues.

World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) will be jointly organising ‘Climate Services User Forum (CSUF 27 and 28 April 2016) for the Water Sector in South Asia’ in association with WMO’s South Asian Climate Outlook Forum (SASCOF-8) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
