GWP advances SDG reporting in 30 countries

GWP has leveraged its stakeholder network to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reporting process in 30 countries. Together with UN Environment-DHI, the custodian agency of SDG 6.5.1, GWP is convening 30 workshops to collect the official country data for 6.5.1. (Integrated Water Resources Management, IWRM).

10. GWP-WA and partners gather award winning journalists in Conakry

GWP West Africa together with the West and Central Africa Programme of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN / PACO) and the Regional Partnership for the Conservation of Coastal and Marine area in West Africa (PRCM) gathered the winners of the water and environment journalism award. The action took place on 25 November 2017 as a side event at the PRCM regional Forum that held from 23 to 27 November in Conakry, Guinea.

In Côte d'Ivoire, the CWP discusses with the African Water Facility

The Country Water Partnership of Côte d'Ivoire (PNECI) had a working session with Mr. OSSETE Jean Michel, Programme and Knowledge Officer at the African Water Facility, accompanied by the consultant Théophile Gnagne, on 1 February 2019 at the African Development Bank (ADB) headquarters.

Siphon Irrigation for Farmer Communities in Lingmutey-Chu Basin in Bhutan (#496)

Water is needed for drinking and irrigation purposes and paradoxically, in Bhutan water shortages occur despite the presence of sufficient resources. In order to provide irrigation water to farmers living in upper slopes and hilltops in Lingmutey-chu who faced issues in accessing water in 2014, a siphon project was initiated by GWP Bhutan/Royal Society for Protection of Nature in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest in Bhutan.

GWP SEA in Action Initial Development of Collaboration Between GWP Southeast Asia and Lancang-Mekong Water Cooperation Centre (LMWRCC)

Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism was proposed by Chinese Primer Likeqiang ni the 17th China-ASEAN Leaders’ meeting held in November of 2015, which aims to strengthen all-round and friendly cooperation among China and Mekong countries and promote regional overall development. The First Lancang-Mekong (LMC) Foreign Ministers Meeting held in Jinghong, Yunnan Province of China in November of 2015 formally announced the establishment of the LMC Mechanism.
