Following a period of unusual heavy monsoon precipitation that started in mid-July and continue into August 2015, Myanmar experienced the most severe flooding in decades. The rainfall is associated with the south-west Monsoon, which occurs each year, but the situation got worse after the land fall of Cyclone Komen in Bangladesh on 30th July 2015 which brought strong winds and additional heavy rain to (north) Myanmar.

Aqua-Media International, in partnership with the International Commission on Large Dams, with the support of the Government of Morocco, has reconvened the next regional conference for Africa, AFRICA 2017, which will take place in Marrakech.

Many participants from West African countries took part in the International Water Law training in Kampala (Uganda) from 6 to 12 June 2016.

GWP Central Africa launched the Water, Climate and Development Program (WACDEP) in Sao Tome and Principe. The workshop was held on 4 July 2017 in the UNDP conference room and brought together some 40 people.

National consultation workshops on SDG 6 were held in Central and Eastern Europe to consult stakeholders on assessing the implementation, monitoring and reporting process for indicator 6.5.1.
