IWA Digital Water Summit

The International Water Association (IWA) is organising the first IWA Digital Water Summit - the original dates were set to 27-30 April in Bilbao, Spain, however due to the worldwide Corinavirus crisis new dates have been announced: 30 November - 3 December. The event is designed to bring together water technology providers and water utilities with a focus on business and industry.

Who are the Water ChangeMakers Across the Globe?

The Water ChangeMaker Awards closed its submissions on 14 June – with 350+ individuals and groups from over 80 countries having submitted their personal experiences on how they have influenced water decisions that build climate resilience. Since that time, all submitted projects have undergone eligibility and verification screening.

Peer-to-Peer Learning in International Water Law and Water Governance

Good governance around transboundary waters is critical for water security, regional socio-economic development, peace, and stability. Since 2010, GWP has been conducting capacity building trainings on International Water Law (IWL) and water governance. While there is no shortage of trainings on transboundary water issues, the uniqueness of GWP’s IWL workshops lie in the peer-to-peer and cross-continental learning, says GWP Senior Network Specialist Yumiko Yasuda. This has proved to be a successful formula that GWP is now ready to take to the next level – an online platform to support existing training and close learning gaps.

CWP Benin launches the project Strengthening Investments for Climate Resilient Development

"Strengthening Investments for Climate Resilient Development in the Lac Nokoué-Lagoon Complex of Porto Novo (RICC)" is a project proposal submitted by the Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Benin that the African Development Bank (AfDB) is supporting financially for an amount of Four hundred and ninety-five thousand three hundred and forty (495,340) Euros over a period of Twenty-four (24) months.

Siphon Irrigation for Farmer Communities in Lingmutey-Chu Basin in Bhutan (#496)

Water is needed for drinking and irrigation purposes and paradoxically, in Bhutan water shortages occur despite the presence of sufficient resources. In order to provide irrigation water to farmers living in upper slopes and hilltops in Lingmutey-chu who faced issues in accessing water in 2014, a siphon project was initiated by GWP Bhutan/Royal Society for Protection of Nature in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest in Bhutan.
