During the latter half of 2018, GWP South America has focused on transboundary waters, engaging regional key partners and proposing an integral approach to the topic. Three events have been held since September, and on 8-9 November, regional GWP representatives were invited as special guests and panelists to an international event in Lima on transboundary waters.

Water and energy are both strategic resources that are fundamental to economic development, industrialisation and creation of much needed jobs in Southern Africa.

World Water Day (WWD) is commemorated on 22 March every year. This year’s theme was “Leaving no one behind”. GWP and its Partners worldwide supported the theme by arranging a wide range of activities. On Thursday 21 June 2018, an information session on the project #TonFuturTonClimat# was held at the town hall of Kouandé for fifteen participants to learn about the new project.

The 17^th WaterNet/WARFSA/GWPSA Symposium on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Eastern and Southern Africa welcomes submission of abstracts for original contribution to the field in the following subthemes:

Recent droughts and floods in Southern Africa region have served as a reminder that a silo approach to planning and investing in water security is no longer suitable due to changing climate and pressure on natural resources.

The scientific conference on River basin management and hydrological events will take place on 10-11 October in Vyhne, Slovakia.
