The goal is to support country and regional responses to SDG 6.5 as an entry point to accelerate implementation of SDG 6 and other water-related goals.

On December 6 to 9, 2016, the newly appointed GWP Steering Committee (SC) member proposed by GWP China Region, Mdm. Qiuchi Shi, Deputy Director General, Department of Water Resources Management, the Ministry of Water Resources of China, attended the Steering Committee Meeting in Stockholm.

Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWP-SA) has entered into a partnership with Water Hygiene Convenience (WHC) to support job creation and SDG implementation on the continent.

Sous la responsabilité directe du Coordonnateur du Secrétariat Régional GWP-CAf, le/la Chargé de Programme Assistant aura pour tâches principales d’appuyer la mise en oeuvre et, la conception et le développement des « Projets et Programme », y compris le développement et la maintenance de partenariats stratégiques clés. Il appuie également à l’élaboration et le partage des produits de gestion des connaissances avec le réseau GWP et à l’identification de toute synergie avec d'autres projets du réseau GWP, en collaboration avec d'autres partenariats régionaux pour l'eau.

The 2017 meeting of the Regional Advisory Committee of the Global Coordination Mechanism of the Mekrou Project held on 15 and 16 June 2017 in Niamey, Niger. The meeting aimed at validating the choice of a preferential scenario for the draft Strategic Framework for Water Security (SFWS) in the Mékrou basin. The Advisory Committee is expected to choose a preferential scenario to enable the consultant to develop it in detail by incorporating the needs for modifications of the action plans for adaptation to extreme events at the basin level as well as at the country level, the procedures for their management and the mapping of the actors concerned.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe releases the Compendium of Good Practices, which provides an overview of the outputs and accomplishments achieved within the Integrated Drought Management Programme in CEE in the period from 2013 to 2015.
