The Global Water Partnership-Nigeria team were in the National Assembly to pay an advocacy visit on the Senate Committee Chairman on Water Resources, Sen. Uballi Shittu and the House Committee Chairman on Water Resources, Hon. Aliyu Pategi. Due to the strategic importance of the meeting, Sen. Uballi Shittu sought the approval of the Senate Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawal to be part of the meeting. The advocacy visit is aimed at sensitizing the National Assembly on the activities of GWP and also plead for the accelerated passage of the National Water Resources Bill.
Global Water Partnership participated at the development partner coordination meeting in Nairobi, Kenya to discuss the development and implementation of the National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP) (2018 – 2022).
On 29 November 2019, His Excellency Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, former President of Tanzania, officially took over the Chairmanship of Global Water Partnership Southern Africa and Africa Coordination Unit (GWPSA-ACU).
The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 12 May 2017 at 13.00 Central European Summer Time. It takes place on the last day of GWP’s annual Regional Days and will be broadcast live on GWP's Facebook page.
The Chair and members of the Steering Committee with the Executive Secretary met the Senior Minister in charge of the Environment, Water and Forestry, Oyé Guilavogui, on 06 July 2018, to discuss the concerns of the partnership.
The SADC Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue is an event organised by the SADC Directorate of Infrastructure and Services, Water Division to provide a forum for practitioners in the region to have a dialogue with water using and water influencing sectors. The underlying objective is to ensure that the interventions in the water sector are well communicated to the non-water sector actors and also create an environment to receive inputs from them. On November 16, 2018, Global Water Partnership Hunan (GWP Hunan) convened over a thousand children from different primary schools to ferment the outcomes of the annual water saving campus campaign with the youngest water warriors in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province.
Activities under this focus area aim to promote gender mainstreaming in the water sector as part of implementing priority intervention P3.1 in the RSAP IV on IWRM in line with the SADC Gender Policy and the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development.
