RBO Workshop on “Improved Regional Integration through River Health and Nexus Approaches”

The Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Secretariat with support from the European Union in delegated cooperation with the United Kingdom and German Governments, managed by GiZ, in collaboration with the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa, will be holding the 7th SADC River Basin Organisation (RBO) workshop in Maseru, Lesotho. The Government of Lesotho on behalf of the Orange-Senqu Basin Commission (ORASECOM) will host the workshop from the 15-17 May, 2017

Water and Climate Resilience Programme (WACREP)

WACREP is a landmark initiative by Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) formulated to improve the climate resilience of South Asian countries to withstand the impact of climate change. Through the Country Water Partnerships in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The programme will provide planning support to government agencies for better use of water.

Central Africa Journalists at the school of Social Media.

From 17-18 June, 2015 a regional building capacity workshop  was organized by The Sao Tome and Principe Water Partnership in collaboration with GWP-CAf  on “the contribution of social media in achieving water security in central Africa” for central Africa Journalists specialized in water security and climate resilience reporting.

 

It brought together at Santana Club & Beach Resort Hotel in Sao Tome Journalists from various media house both private and public, and different countries including Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Chad, Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe.

 

The workshop aimed at initiating media practitioners to the proper use of social media as a means of communication on the one hand, and on the other hand underlining the role of social media as a catalyst in changing human behavior with respect to water security, and climate resilience and are concerned.

 

The two day workshop which focused on the use of social media was also a unique opportunity for not only introducing media professionals to the GWP-CAf‘s web presence including the regional website and social media on which the organization is active but also inviting media practitioners to interact on these online platforms

Virtual SC meeting organized

An electronic consultation of the Steering Committee members was organized from 21 to 30 March 2017. According to the Statutes, two SC meeting should be organized every year, one of which should be virtual in order to reduce costs related to statutory meetings.

Rural Women of Central America take on Water Scarcity

As part of the implementation of the GWP Gender Strategy, a workshop for 24 rural women on the installation and maintenance of a rainwater harvesting system as an alternative to water scarcity recently took place in Honduras. Participants included women who had previous experience in water management and who are leaders in their communities, NGOs, or work in a municipality.

The cornerstone of GWP China is to be a knowledge sharing network.
