Representatives of Asian and Pacific countries, stakeholder groups and development and humanitarian partners will gather in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, 3-6 July, for the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR). GWP will be represented at the event.
Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa in partnership with Nile IWRM Net/Cap-Net and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) are organising a training on applying Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) tools for Drought Risk Management. The training will take place in Uganda on 11th -13th July 2017.
The International Secretariat for Water (ISW), Eau Vive International in collaboration with GWP WA and other partners have organized a training on the topic “New ideas for a better sharing of resources”.
The Board of Directors of Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) is pleased to announce that Mr. Alex Simalabwi has been named the new Executive Secretary, Head of Africa Coordination Unit and GWP’s Global Lead on Climate Resilience. His appointment was effective from 1st January 2017. Mr. Alex Simalabwi succeeds Ms. Ruth Beukman who had served GWPSA since 2003.
The goal of the Africa Water Investment Programme is to transform and improve the investment outlook for water security and sustainable sanitation for a prosperous, peaceful and equitable society.
The AIP will strengthen the business case for investments in water security and climate resilience, and prepare bankable projects as instruments to stimulate transformative economic growth while addressing the root causes of migration, youth unemployment, and gender inequality. The AIP will promote innovative public private partnership models to unlock private sector investments in water, energy and agriculture as key pillars of Africa’s growth, development and employment creation agenda.
