GWPSA joined other key stakeholders working around climate change adaptation at a regional workshop on Climate Change National Adaptation Plans for African Anglophone countries. The workshop, which was held in Lilongwe, Malawi from 27 February-3 March 2017, was organised by the UNFCCC LEG and was attended by about 50 participants from 25 Anglophone African countries. The regional training was officially opened by the Chief Director for Environment and Climate Change Management, Dr. Yanira Ntupanyama, Malawi. Remarks were also given from UNFCCC (Dr. Paul Desanker, Manager of NAPs and Policies, and LDCs Expert Group (LEG) Chairman, Mr. Abias Huongo-Angola.

The uneven distribution and quality of water resources in the Tisza River Basin brings challenges on how to elaborate the Programme of Measures as required by the EU Water Framework Directive. The team of 43 experts is currently working on the update of River Basin Management Plan under the Interreg project JOINTISZA.

The Gambia Country Water Partnership is a young partnership established in December 2011 and accredited in 2016. Among other things funding remains a major constraint. Inadequate and slow responses to proposals have delayed the implementation of planned programmes and the establishment of a more formal secretariat. But the Partnership continues to make efforts to mobilize resources to enable it carry out its activities

Following the end of the first phase of WACDEP in 2016, an African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) programme implemented by the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and partners, a number of knowledge products have been developed to help capture the various lessons and experiences drawn from the various WACDEP projects. The products provide a more comprehensive understanding of the programmes innovative approach.

The Regional Coordinator visited the Ramitenga site where the Burkina WACDEP is implementing its pilot project for the demonstration of drip irrigation through solar energy to boost agricultural production. 

On 9 October 2018, Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) together with partners from DriDanube project held Consultations on the Principles on Investments and Financing for Water-related Disaster Risk Reduction at the Romanian National Meteorological Administration in Bucharest, Romania.
