19 November is World Toilet Day – a day that raises awareness of the 3.5 billion people living without access to safely managed sanitation. This year’s theme ‘accelerating change’ reminds us that we need to act faster to ensure water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for all.
The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) participated in the 8th International River and Environment Cooperation (REMCO) Conference, held in Maputo, Mozambique, from 3 to 7 November 2025. Convening more than 150 delegates from Mozambique, Eswatini, South Africa, the Netherlands, and Germany, the conference served as a critical platform for advancing collaborative strategies to strengthen transboundary water governance and climate resilience across the Incomati and Maputo River Basins.

The SDG 6.5.1 Support Program is GWP’s flagship program aimed at assisting the national SDG 6.5.1. Focal Points in the organisation and facilitation of multi-stakeholder consultation on SDG Indicator 6.5.1, also known as Stage 1 support.
