The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) has received the support of a number of  Caribbean Ministers with responsibility for water; senior government officials from different sectors; national and regional agencies; and key partners, all of whom attended the launch of the GWP-C’s Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) for the Caribbean on October 10^th, 2013 in Barbados.

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) has embarked on a new and exciting initiative, designed to develop practical and user-friendly tools for climate resilient decision-making, focused on the water sector in the Caribbean. The new initiative will be undertaken as part of the GWP-C Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) for the Caribbean.   

GWP Eastern Africa produces a quarterly newsletter, The Water Digest whose aim is communicating to our stakeholders about a series of activities geared towards a water secure and climate resilient region. 

The GWP Eastern Africa holds the 18thOrdinary Regional Steering Committee (RSC) in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi from 18th-19th October 2013, Nairobi, Kenya.

GWP Eastern Africa organized a Water and Climate Development (WACDEP) Training Workshop on August 21-22, 2013 in Bugesera District, Rwanda. The title of the workshop was “Role of Communication in Promoting Water Security and Climate Resilience.” The theme was grounded in the understanding that the success of WACDEP rests on how all stakeholders are informed, actively engaged and owning the processes: consultations, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. A total of 30 communications experts and journalists from Burundi and Rwanda attended the training.

This paper answers the question of how to prioritize investments in water security. It explores the most important aspects for enabling growth and the most significant investments to increase water security. It also provides guidance on how economic considerations can inform the decisions of policy-makers on the allocation of resources to water management. The challenge of accessing water and energy for food production are central to reducing poverty and hunger in Asia. This paper compares and contrasts the ways in which India and China are tackling the same challenge of harnessing water resources under growing water scarcity and competing demand. Technical Focus Papers are publications of the GWP Technical Committee that harness and share knowledge generated by GWP Partnerships.

Climate change threatens water resources and puts the world’s development goals at risk. The post-2015 sustainable development framework should prioritise a goal on water security for all. Briefing notes are two-page summaries on selected topics. They are prepared by GWP’s Global Secretariat and its partners.
