Objective: The objective is to support the efficient execution of the legal, technical, procedural and manage-rial functions required to implement large water investment projects as these frequently consti-tute blockages to development due to their complexity.

In preparation for the 9th edition of the World Water Forum, to be held in Dakar, Senegal in 2021, the Kick-Off Meeting (Preparatory Process) was held on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 June 2019 in Dakar by the Government of Senegal and the World Water Council. On Friday, August 31, 2018, GWP-WA hosted the consultant mandated by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification who is conducting a literature review on drought management initiatives in Burkina Faso. Professor Michel SEDOGO, recruited as a consultant, has the mission of helping Burkina Faso to develop a National Drought Management Plan.

On Friday, April 27, 2018, the Benin Youth Parliament for Water (RB/PMJE), launched the project "My School Is Not a Garbage Can" (MENUP) at Godomey College. An initiative supported by CWP Benin as the technical partner and coach of the RB/PMJE.
The transboundary issue is key in water resources management in Africa and mostly in West Africa where all countries except the Island of Cape Verde share at least one river with at least another country. The region has 22 major transboundary river basins, and six established transboundary river basin authorities to contribute to strengthen transboundary cooperation.
On 11 September 2019, GWP, together with the World Bank and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), launched a new working paper: “Framework for the Assessment of Benefits of Action/Cost of Inaction (BACI) for Drought Preparedness.” The launch took place on the Drought Preparedness Day at the 14th UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP14), held in New Delhi, India.
