On 17 September 2018, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “Multi-party Recommendations on Water Resources Bill (RUU SDA)” was organized by Jejaring AMPL (Water and Sanitation Network) at Akmani Hotel, Jakarta. Water and Sanitation Network was formed on 8 October 2007 in Jakarta to address the issue of low service accessibility, weak coordination and synergy in the water and sanitation sector. Members of the Network comprises actors and observers in the water and sanitation sector in Indonesia. Discussions in the FGD produced inputs and revisions to the articles in the Water Resources Bill (RUU SDA). To follow up on the results of the discussion, a workshop with the same title was held to present the discussion results to responders and participants from the civil society, NGOs, government stakeholders, working partners and mass media. The workshop was held at The Park Lane Hotel on 20 September 2018.
The Water Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (WRI/CSIR) and University of Manchester - UK, jointly organised the inception workshop on the FutureDAMS programme on 12th June 2018.
GWP and its partners launched the Partnership for the Preparation of Water Projects Resilient to Climate Change in Africa at a workshop in Johannesburg from 19 to 21 September 2018.
After the regional mission in February, the CWP Guinea has reviewed its 2018-2019 action plan to include proposals and activities discussed during the mission with various partners. The reviewed plan focusses on Policy Influence and Visibility of the CWP, Communication and knowledge management; Strengthening partnerships and governance; and Mobilization of financial resources.
It was during the 8th Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) River Basin Organisations (RBOs) workshop that took place from 8-9th May, 2018 in Windhoek, Namibia that participants recommended that SADC RBOs should play a more active role in facilitating investment for water, energy and food security in the region.
After their recruitment as Technical Assistants, the two Young Professionals started the six-month internship on Monday 16th July 2018. International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year to commemorate the movement for women's rights. For 2018, International Women’s Day comes on the heels of unprecedented global movement for women’s rights, equality and justice. This has taken the form of global marches and campaigns, including #MeToo and #TimesUp in the United States of America and their counterparts in other countries, on issues ranging from sexual harassment and femicide to equal pay and women’s political representation. In this context, the UN theme for the 2018 International Women’s Day is “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.
