GWP supports countries to achieve sustainable human, environmental, and economic development by facilitating implementation of the water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and targets, using the comparative advantage of an on-the-ground multi-stakeholder network and 20 years of knowledge and experience on integrated approaches of multi-level partnerships.

Water Agent V 003 project focuses on the environmental education of pupils in the field of water management.

Under the Strategic Goal 1 Catalyze Change, the WACDEP Programme of GWP China Region stresses cross-regional cooperation, sector plan optimization, investment on recycling renewable resources, south-south promotion and a good lesson of utilizing the water rights market.

GWP issued "Gender Balance Strategy" in 2016. Since then, Communications Officers of 13 regions, together with the Head of Communications in Stockholm, have organised various activities and campaigns that promoted the Strategy and helped women/young women to play a crucial role in water management at each level.

GWP and AMCOW – the African Ministers’ Council on Water – have been working together for over a decade. AMCOW Executive Secretary Dr Canisius Kanangire recently visited the GWP secretariat in Stockholm to discuss current and future collaboration. Dr Kanangire says that GWP has a lot of knowledge, experience, and expertise that can support AMCOW to reach results in many aspects of water resources management.

The implementation process of national and regional platforms on the Integrated Management of Drought is ongoing. Thus the regional core group as well as the national core group of Niger held their first meeting of 2016 respectively on Wednesday, June 15 in Ouagadougou and Wednesday 22 June in Niamey.
