Benin, CWP experiments a new water consumption control project

On Wednesday 31 January 2018, the Via Water project was launched in Cotonou, Benin. The launch ceremony took place under the sponsorship of the Deputy Secretary General of the Minister of Water and Mines, in the presence of the actors of the consortium in charge of the said project, the representatives of public structures of the sub-sector, the Ministry of Health, the young water professionals of the Beninese Network of Youth of the World Water Parliament (RB/PMJE) and the economic operators of the water sector.

Accelerating project preparation and financing water projects in Africa

Africa's population is projected to reach 1.6 billion by 2030, which translates into a need to produce at least 50% more food; and at least a tenfold increase in water needs for energy production to support socio-economic development. These challenges and the resultant increase in water demand are further aggravated by rapid urbanization and industrialisation. This requires huge investments in water to satisfy the social and economic demands among other things.

RECOJAC on the way to Dakar 2021

The Water and Climate Network of Central African Youth Organisations (RECOJAC) participated in the launch meeting of the 9th World Water Forum from 20th to 21st June 2019. The Youth network is recognized as a key regional network for supporting the preparation of the Forum.

GWP-Med and UNICEF Mauritania join forces to support the development of an Action Plan for the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) System of Water Resources and WASH in Mauritania

“…The lack of regularly informed monitoring and evaluation system of water resources and water services challenges considerably the decision making process for water management in Mauritania… The Action Plan will be an important document to advocate for funds mobilizations…”, with these statements, the General Secretary of the Ministry of Hydraulics and Sanitation, M. Mohamed Ould Abdallahi Salem Ould Ahmed Doua, opened the joint workshop organised by GWP-Med and UNICEF Mauritania on February, 7th 2018.
