GWP-WA partners reflect on achieving the SDGs in West Africa

GWP-WA held this Saturday, December 2, 2023 the 11th Partners Assembly under the theme: ''Accelerating the achievement of SDG6 in a context of security crisis in West Africa: Challenges, Innovative Strategies and Contributions of Partnerships''. The event took place in #Ouagadougou, #Burkina Faso under the patronage of the Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso represented by the Director General of Water Resources.

SADC and Partners to host will host the SADC Resource Mobilisation and Transboundary Water Investment Workshop

The Southern African Development Community (SADC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation of the Republic of Zambia, and with the support from the German government through the SADC GIZ Transboundary Water Management (TWM) project and the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA), will host the SADC Resource Mobilisation and Transboundary Water Investment Workshop in Lusaka, Zambia from 24 to 25 July 2025.

GWP-WA: A 12th Assembly of Partners Focused on Water Governance and Transformation in West Africa

The West Africa Regional Water Partnership (GWP-WA) held its 12th Ordinary Assembly of Partners (AP) under the theme: “Supporting Water Valorization to Transform West Africa.” This strategic meeting, organized via videoconference, brought together 35 partners from public institutions, regional organizations, NGOs, the private sector, and technical and financial partners.

AU Member States applaud AU-AIP Green Climate Fund Readiness Support Initiative in acceleration of water and climate resilience investments

Fifteen African Union (AU) Member States that gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, for the kick-off workshop of the AU-AIP Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Support Initiative have hailed the multi-country initiative saying it gives them a continental-wide platform to learn from each other in efforts to accelerate water and climate resilience investments through the Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP).

A significant number of reservoirs and lakes in the Danube River Basin area have relevance in flood peak reduction. The countries in the river basin maintain contact and exchange of information only within bilateral cooperation. Therefore, first, there is a need for carrying out a comprehensive survey of the flood control practices and operational management of the reservoirs, and second to create a common platform for information exchange.
