The Gambia CWP, a good example of successful commitment

The Gambia Country Water Partnership is a young partnership established in December 2011 and accredited in 2016. Among other things funding remains a major constraint. Inadequate and slow responses to proposals have delayed the implementation of planned programmes and the establishment of a more formal secretariat. CWP Gambia to renew advocacy for UN 97 Water Convention ratification

The Gambia is yet to ratify the UN97 Transboundary Watercourses Convention. The former National Assembly members were sensitized and mobilized on the bill. There is the need to sensitize and mobilise the new Assembly Members on the UN97 Convention, the Gambia Water Bill, the National Water Resources Management Authority Bill and the Gambia Metrological Authority Bills respectively.

Senegal Country Water Partnership accredited

Nine Country Water Partnerships (CWP) are now accredited out of the thirteen in West Africa. At the end of September 2017, the Assembly of Partners of GWP West Africa recommended that Senegal and Ivory Coast CWPs make necessary steps to submit needed documents for their accreditation.
