The DIKTAS Project (2010 – 2014) is initiated by the aquifer-sharing states and is a full-size GEF regional project, implemented by UNDP and executed by UNESCO. The activities of the project focus on Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro. Several other countries and international organizations have also joined this challenging project and provide valuable contribution to realisation of its objectives.

‘Closing the Knowledge Gap: Integrated Water Resources Management for Sustainable Agriculture’ was the theme of an  international seminar in Johannesburg, South Africa, November 22-26, 2010, which sought to discuss strategies for developing comprehensive information and knowledge support systems in integrated water management for productive agriculture in Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) states.

In its efforts to continue building capacity for improved water management in the region, Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) together with its partner, the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) hosted a workshop entitled ‘Water Use Efficiency in the Agriculture Sector’ on November 1^st - 3^rd, 2011 at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Centre in St. Kitts.

Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) member, Ms. Judy Daniel is one of only thirty persons from across the globe that has been awarded a scholarship through the 2012 GWP-University of Dundee International Water Law (IWL) Scholarship Programme. The scholarship will enable her to undertake a module in International Water Law at the University of Dundee in Scotland from June 11^th -29^th, 2012.

The Workshop on Efficient Use of Water Resources and Ecological Compensation on Loess Pleteau of the Yellow River, co-organized by GWP China Yellow River and Yellow River Research Institute, was held on September 27 and 28, 2010, Zhengzhou, Henan Province.

The 6th Meeting of the Circle of Mediterranean Parliamentarians for Sustainable Development (COMPSUD) took place on May 3-4, in Corfu island, Greece, with the participation of 30 MPs from 15 countries and representatives of regional organisations. The Meeting concluded with the Corfu Declaration.

Global Water Partnership China Hebei, abbreviation: GWP China Hebei. It was founded in October 2003 and since then has been played as a network which promotes IWRM and sustainable use of water resources.

The challenges China is facing with the rapid growth of urban centres, and the corresponding demands on limited water and related resources, is immense. This is true on the Loess Plateau which covers an area of some 640,000 km² in the upper and middle of China's Yellow River. A workshop on “Efficient Use of Water Resources and Ecological Compensation” was co-organized by GWP China-Yellow River and the Yellow River Research Institute on 27-28 September 2010, in Zhengzhou, Henan Province.
